Amélie Chatellard
Born in La Chaux-de-Fonds (NE) and based in Lausanne, Amélie is a young photographer who engages with the medium to explore and question her environment. She employs portraiture to challenge the patriarchal system together with the social injustices and intersectional oppressions it perpetuates. In her projects, she underscores paradoxes to destabilize meaning and create tensions. The artist seeks to break the codes of fashion through the casting of her models, who represent a wide range of morphologies and ethnicities, to give space to an informed and visual reflection on the fluidity genders. The ecological dimension in the fashion industry is highlighted in ‘MILESTONE’, the fruit of a collaboration with the Théâtre de Vidy in Lausanne. The Queer community and queerness are the core of her current artistic investigation. She constantly questions her gender and her sexual orientation.
